How did Mom do the laundry a hundred years ago?  Using examples from the Museum collection, students will discover through observation and practical experience the progression of everyday household implements.  Hands on demonstrations of "beating" a carpet, using a washboard and the push lawn mower.
Program Length:  1 hour. Gr 1 - 2

On this day students from Milton centennial School in Milton, Nova Scotia were hard at work learning how to clean the house one hundred years ago. They were making sure the laundry was clean and the carpets were beaten. They even said cleaning was fun Mom and Dad!!
