Using live and dried plant specimens, students will experience through hands on activity and interactive discussion the tradition of turning local plants and herbs into medicine by the people of the Mi'kmaq culture. Program Length: 1 hour. Gr 3 - 6

Mi’kmaq Culture

Staff of the Queens County Museum will show students actual examples of tool used by the Mi’kmaq people and students will hear detailsabout living in a time when nature was your only resource for living. Children will learn how a scraper was used to prepare hides for clothing as well as see an actual fish spear. Family connections, food preparation and housing will also be covered. Program Length: 1 hour. Gr 3 - 6
