Christmas traditions from Simeon Perkins to Queen Victoria
Find out how the Perkins family would have celebrated Christmas in the 1700's
and how the traditions changed as we approached the period of Queen Victoria.  We'll have fun making a take home Christmas Ornament for your tree, as well.(K-4)

Traditions of Christmas
Do you ever wonder why some people put tinsel on their Christmas trees or why
you hang a stocking up by the fire? Well, we would like to share these traditions with you.  We'll tell you about the Christmas spider, the boys stuck in the pickle barrel, the story of the first Christmas card and much more. Maybe you can start your own tradition.

Each year the Museum Staff pick a theme to explore and discuss with the children.  In past years it has been the anniversary of Dr. Seuss, Walt Disney and his Queens County Connection, Barbies and Transformers, Trolls, Toys of Christmas Past and many enjoyable others.  Check back soon to see what the theme of 2007 will be!
