Giving the past a future

Many visitors are interested in the history of the first peoples of the Maritimes. The South Shore of Nova Scotia, including Queens County has a very strong history relating to the Mi’kmaq culture. Because all of the South Shore is river based the history of our first peoples differs from inland cultures.  Trade was very common among different tribes as was travel among the waterways.

Privateer Vs Pirate. Do you know the difference?  Book your group to hear about the trials and tribulations of being a member of one of the most misunderstood professions of the 1700’s & 1800’s.
“Almost from the settlement of Liverpool in 1760 privateering was an activity that engaged many of its people.  The natural source of livelihood was the sea. Fishing and trade were the vital industries.  Liverpool sailors, courageous, skilled and daring, carried the products of the sea and forest to the West Indies and the far ports of the world.”

Children and adults alike will be very happy with their modern day Doctor or Dentist after listening to this detailed lecture about 18th Century medicine.  Groups will be able to see actual medical instruments used by Liverpool Doctors and your speaker will tell you why Simeon Perkins, his family and his community probably felt that they had very modern medicine on their side by comparing their medicine to Medieval practices.
